5 DIY Bathroom Decorating Trends to Follow

Do you love your bathroom? Does it make you feel as if you’re entering a spa each time you step foot into your shower? If not, it might be time to try some of these DIY bathroom decorating trends.

Bathroom decorating is often put on the backburner. Because it’s a room that many visitors, friends, and family don’t see (and don’t spend much time using), homeowners often put off adding design and style their bathroom.

If you’re looking for a weekend project, here are a few ways you can add instant style to your bathroom.

1. Glass Tile Backsplash

Nothing screams bathroom décor than the aquatic look of blue glass tiles. Using underwater style glass tile for a backsplash in the shower or around your vanity you instantly create a stunning look that’s perfectly suited for the bathroom.

It’s not hard for DIY’ers to install backsplashes. Most can be attached with adhesive, making it a fast, easy, and affordable project.

2. Add Bright Colors to Small Spaces

People used to think that bright colors would overwhelm a small space. Not anymore.

Add bright colors to your space using tiles, paint, or flowers. Incorporate different shades of the same hue to add dimension while still keeping your design uniform. If you’re adding bright colors to all of the walls in your bathroom, keep the lighting and appliances minimalistic.

3. Create a Spa-Like Shower

Saunas surround you with warmth and steam. Do the same in your shower by adding multiple shower heads. This way you never freeze while you’re getting clean.

If you don’t have a setup that allows you to add multiple shower heads, try adding a bench instead. This is not only nice for adding candles and other spa-like fixtures but it keeps your shower feeling cozy and warm.

4. Use Radiant Heat

Nothing feels more jarring in the morning than stepping foot onto an ice cold floor. Bathroom floors don’t have to be frigid and cold. Adding radiant heat makes your room more comfortable and homey.

Laminate flooring allows you to add radiant heat. Follow the special manufacturers instructions when doing this to keep your home safe and your flooring damage free.

5. Frame Your Mirrors

Framed mirrors make a dull, drab bathroom look like an art-filled masterpiece.

To frame your mirrors, use base molding. Paint the molding to match your color choice and use a miter saw to cut the boards to the right size. Then, use some caulk to attach the edges of each frame together and you’ll have a beautifully framed mirror.
