7 Ideas for Adding Color to Your Room (Including Painting Laminate Flooring!)

Getting ready to buy new floors? Although there are a variety of colors to choose from, why not consider creating a room that is exclusively yours with paint? Painting laminate flooring is easier than you think and can instantly transform the look of your space.

Here are seven tips to help you find a fun new look for each of the rooms in your home.

1. Add Splashes Of Color

Is your laminate flooring in a nursery or kids room? Add fun splashes of color in the corners with brightly colored area rugs. With blue, yellow, red, and green small rugs in each corner, your child’s play areas are broken up into fun spots in their room. When it comes time to clean up, your child can make a game out of organizing their space.

2. Add Stripes

Use varying colors of laminate flooring to create a bold striped or chevron pattern look. By using a subtle contrast, such as light and dark wood you can add dimension and movement to your room without making your guests dizzy. You can also use colored laminate flooring, such as white and grey, or grey and black. This will make a big impression without going too far out-of-the-box with your design.

3. Paint the Stairs

If you used laminate on your staircase, paint each stair an alternate color. For example, paint the top, horizontal piece black and the middle, vertical pieces white. This will instantly add a dramatic look to your staircase, making it look modern and chic.

4. Create a Geometric Design

Geometric designs can brighten up a small area. Bold prints and patterns make your floors look welcoming and cultured. Add geometric patterns to your entryways to create a fun, vibrant look as soon as your guests walk in.

5. Paint a Picture

When you buy laminate flooring, you know that you must purchase a little bit extra so you don’t run out. If you have left over planks from your latest laminate flooring project, use them to create artwork. Pallet art is very trendy right now. By painting a few pieces of laminate flooring, you can create a similar look that will instantly add chic pizzazz to your walls.

6. Distinguish Different Areas

Do you have a large room? Break it up and distinguish different sections of the room by adding an area rug to one small section a darker color. This is ideal in large living room/dining room areas where you want to put your dining table but still create a cozy living space.

7. Use Chalkboard Paint

Chalkboard paint offers a fun alternative to regular paint. Use your leftover planks from your latest flooring project to create small chalkboards. Give the chalkboards to your kids and set their creativity free. Or, hang them on the wall to write down the weekly menu or appointments, and keep your family organized.
