Celebrity Homes: Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka’s New York City Home

Once the hit TV show “How I Met Your Mother” ended, Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka moved their family from Los Angeles to New York City. There they purchased a 19th century townhouse in Harlem. They spent the next 14 months juggling renovations with raising their then 4 year old twins, Gideon and Harper.

Their five story townhouse had a lot of character but needed structural work as well as updating the flow to make it appropriate for raising a family because it was previously a bed and breakfast. Renovations also included offices for Harris’s production company and a screening room as well as a gourmet kitchen for Burtka, who trained as a chef at Le Cordon Bleu.

Here are a few of our favorite aspects of the David Burtka and Neil Patrick Harris New York City home:

The Kitchen

Of course we love the kitchen. We wouldn’t expect any less beautiful or functional of a kitchen from a trained chef! It has a beautiful large island where the family can hang out while Burtka cooks. It also boasts a gorgeous Wolf range and hood that looks perfect with the dark cabinets and Caesarstone quartz countertops and island.

The Master Bedroom

Their master bedroom is gorgeous. We love the cool colors used to create a very relaxing and serene space. The wall covering on the main wall is our favorite part because it adds a calming sense of movement and peace.

Their Art Collection

The pair has very eclectic taste which is evident in their growing art collection. They’ve collected contemporary art from well known artists as well as emerging artists and have them prominently displayed throughout the townhouse.
