Century Home Attic and Basement Remodeling

Century homes often maximize all the available space and have finished attics and basements. Attics in century homes are often very cozy and practical, it is an outstanding use of space that would otherwise go to waste. Basements in century homes are more storage oriented, but with a little TLC they can be transformed into useful spaces. Bestlaminate is here to inspire with century home attic and basement remodeling ideas!

Flooring

The flooring in your attic or basement can really change the mood. If the flooring is currently unfinished, worn out or just simply old, it is time for an upgrade. Laminate flooring is a great option for both basements and attics, as it will bring the glow and warmth of nature without the cost of authentic wood. Vinyl plank flooring is also an outstanding option, especially for basements, as it is 100% water proof!

If you decide to go for new flooring, be sure your subfloor can handle it. Century homes can have subfloor issues, so be sure it is smooth, crack free and sturdy. This will assure a successful project that will look great long into the future.

Walls

Take a look at the walls in your attic and basement. Do they need paint? Take time to make the walls smooth and paint them with a bright and fresh color. A fresh coat of paint can really  give a space the brightness and energy it needs.

Consider colors like shades of white, yellows and blues. Light colors will do a great job making your space look larger, and take away from the classic misconception of attics and basements being dark and gloomy.

Thank you so much for these helpful advices. We actually have an attic which is not serving its purpose. The thing is we have piled most of our old tuffs in there. With your post, I am so encouraged to go clean it up and make it ready for renovation. Regarding our old stuffs, I will have to donate it or maybe put up a small garage sale. Thank you for this idea.
