5 Types of DIY Spring Decor That Instantly Spruce Up Your Dining Room

Finally it’s spring! This is the time of year when flowers bloom and decorations shift to bright pastel hues. It’s also one of the favorite times of year for DIY’ers to get started on new projects… and to procrastinate on spring cleaning…

Anyway, if you’re looking for fast, easy, and stunning DIY spring decor ideas for your dining room, here are a few projects to get you started!

1. Place Mats

You can go out and buy place mats, or you can make your own! Our guest blogger Renee made these batik place mats in little to no time at all! The best part? You can make them for really cheap if you thrift the fabric! Make them tie-dye colored, or design pretty flowers and patterns, or try your hand at ombre dying! The sky is the limit when you make your own decor.

2. Thrifted Glassware

For a quick and inexpensive way to dress up your dining room, go to your local thrift store and scoop up some old vases! Paint them your favorite soft spring colors and add them to your dining room table, fireplace mantle, or just about any room in your house! Our guest blogger Prodigal Pieces showed us how to do these and it’s so simple to do! Add fresh spring flowers from your garden to these vases and admire your work!

3. Spring Wreaths

Wreaths don’t always have to go on front doors! They can become a centerpiece in your home as well! You can make spring wreaths from just about anything! You can weave flowers together for a fresh look, or use faux flowers and twigs for a look that will last all spring! We particularly love this wreath from Zu Haus at Home with it’s cute clothes pin “spring” lettering and rustic frame.

4. Update Dining Room Chairs

Now is the time to reupholster those chairs! Choose colors that will last all year round, but can be paired with fun spring colors! It may seem like a daunting task, but Fox Hollow Cottage breaks it down into easy to follow steps. You could essentially get this done within a few hours and have “new” chairs that will last years!

5. Flower Box Planters

Everything outdoors is blossoming and blooming. Embrace this colorful time of year by bringing the outside in! Make an indoor flower planter as the main focus of your tablescape. Plant flowers in a DIY rustic planter box made form scraps of pallet wood. Wait until they blossom, and bring them inside when they are at their most beautiful so everyone can enjoy! Cover up the dirt with Spanish moss, colorful eggs, or pretty rocks and let your green thumb shine!
