Need instructions for how to install Felt Cushion 3-in-1 flooring underlayment? We’ve got you covered.
Before you install your flooring, you need to lay down the right underlayment. This offers a barrier of protection between your floors and the subfloors. With Felt Cushion 3-in-1 flooring underlayment, you get three benefits in one:
1. Offer a protective layer.
2. Keep out excess moisture.
3. Minimize sound pollution and noise.
With the three benefits rolled into one cushioning layer, your floors will have the support needed to look and feel amazing for years to come.
Installing Felt Cushion 3-in-1 Flooring Underlayment
Before the installation process begins, get organized. Get all of your tools and materials together to make installing your underlayment as simple and straightforward as possible. Doing so will keep your project running smoothly.
Here’s what you will need to install your underlayment.
- Felt Cushion 3-in-1 flooring underlayment
- Broom and Dustpan
- Scissors or a Utility Knife
Now that you’re ready, let’s get started!
Step 1: Prepare Your Subfloor.
Do a visual inspection for any cracks, holes, protruding objects, unevenness, or moisture. If you notice any of these damages, stop the installation process and have them fixed. Do not continue until your subfloor is in good shape.
Step 2: Roll Out the First Row of Underlayment
Roll out your first row of Felt Cushion 3-in-1 underlayment with the film side downward. The felt side should be facing upward.
You should also keep the tape strip next to the wall. Unroll the underlayment with the overlapping film out toward the room.
Step 3: Cut the Sections
Using your scissors or your utility knife, cut the section of the underlayment. Felt is difficult to tear through so make sure whatever blades you use have sharp edges.
Step 4: Roll Out the Next Row
Following the same instructions in step 2, roll out a second row of underlayment. Remember, the tape side should be facing the other piece of underlayment and the overlapping layer should be facing outward.
Step 5: Butt the Edging
Make sure that the sections line up evenly by butting the edges of the underlayment. Put the tape side over the overlapping strip. Be sure there is no extra overlap as this can weaken the integrity of your flooring.
Step 6: Attach the First Two Rows
Using the adhesive strip, attach the first two rows. Tape the adhesive evenly over the overlapping film.
Step 7: Cut the Next Section
Following the above instructions, cut another section of Felt Cushion 3-in-1 underlayment.
Step 8: Install Your Flooring
Following the instructions from the manufacturer, install your flooring over the underlayment. Don’t forget to acclimatize your floors first!
That’s it! Continue following the steps until all of your underlayment is correctly installed. Once finished, you will have beautiful, comfortable, and protected floors.
