Mid Century Modern New York Apartment

Our featured home for this week is the perfect example of the design melting pot you can find in New York City. It used to be owned by Britney Spears, but the current owners have been living in it for several years. It is located on the 10th, 11th, 12th and penthouse floors of the Silk Building. It has three bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and an amazing terrace with views of the city. Take a look inside this Mid-Century Modern New York Apartment!

The Great Room

Although this apartment is located in New York, it is anything but tiny. It features an open-concept great room with very high ceilings. The kitchen flows right into the dining room, which is perfect for entertaining. Those see-through dining room chairs offer function without making the room feel crowded. We love the vintage feel of the tall, red leather banquette.

The Living Room

The simple color palette continues throughout the home, with little pops of color. This bright yellow couch is the perfect statement piece in this traditional living room. This room offers amazing views of the city through the giant windows. That playful, sputnik chandelier really bridges the gap between the traditional and mid-century modern design elements.

Masculine Bedroom

This is one of the bedrooms in the house. It has a more masculine feel because of the dark walls. The simple, white bedspread was a great choice for this room so the design doesn’t feel as heavy. The columns on either side of the photo show the character this historic building still has inside.

Regal Bathroom

Although this bathroom has a very simple color palette, it seems almost regal in its layout.  The sand-colored tiles are timeless, and the light blue walls are calming. The steps up to the shower and the sunken tub make this bathroom feel more special and unique. The owners have placed a large, modern painting next to the tub to add more color to this bathroom.

Nautical Bedroom

This second bedroom feels very spacious with its high, slanted ceiling. The darker walls and white ceiling really draw your eyes up to the top. The simple gray color palette is calm and almost nautical. This room looks like a great place to curl up and read a good book.

Sitting Room

We’re willing to bet that not many homes in New York City have a swing on the inside. This home defies the odds (and maybe gravity too!) with a bench swing in the center of the room. This seating area is bright and simple, but the furnishings make it feel cozy. This room returns back to that mid-century modern flair that makes this home so special.

The Terrace

Almost every room in this apartment has a great view of New York City, but the best place to see the skyline is from the terrace. This outdoor space is high in the sky and perfect for a morning cup of coffee. If you’re daydreaming about living in this home, then you’re in luck. You can rent this 4,400 square foot Mid-Century Modern New York Apartment for around $24,000 a month.
