How thick should your laminate flooring be?

Thickness is a preference, thickness does not determine durability, look to AC ratings to find a durable flooring for your home. Thicker laminates contain a larger amount of High Density Fiber, which will help with minor subfloor deviations without problems later. “Levelness” is very important to a successful installation. A thicker plank can provide sound damping of acoustics, the compressed fibers in the board will stop sound from travel as well but it will not completely dampen all sounds.

There is no exact answer on how to choose the thickness of your laminate flooring. The need for a certain thickness will depend on the application, especially if your subfloor is uneven.
