When Do I Use A Reducer?

You would use a reducer when you are transitioning from a laminate to vinyl, linoleum or to ceramic on a wood sub floor with a backer board. In general, you would use this moldings when transitioning from one area higher than the other. Reducers include a track that will be placed between the gaps of the two floors. Then you will snap the molding down into place. If you do not wish to use the track, you can also glue down the molding. Tracks are available in thin and thick depending on the thickness of your laminate.
