Bestlaminate prides itself on offering the best flooring choices and accessories on the market. At Bestlaminate, choosing the right floor is only half of the process! You must also consider the accessories that provide a seamless installation and professional finish. Whether you're a seasoned contractor or a DIY enthusiast, our extensive range of flooring accessories and supplies, such as underlayment and matching trim moldings, are here to meet all your needs and budget.

Comprehensive Range of Accessories

Our flooring accessories should be paired with laminate and vinyl floating floor projects. Flooring underlayments are used before installation begins, and floor trim moldings are to professionally finish your installation, covering necessary expansion gaps and transitions between floors and rooms. Both underlayment and moldings are important for a successful installation.

Flooring Underlayment

Choosing a high-quality underlayment that meets the needs of your installation is crucial for the longevity and performance of your floor. It provides a smooth surface for your flooring, adds cushioning, reduces noise, and offers moisture protection. We offer a variety of underlayment options for laminate and vinyl flooring from vapor barriers to standard foam and advanced felt options. We also have contractor packs for savings on big projects!

Learn about the main types of underlayment we carry:

  • Standard Foam Underlayment: A basic 3mm thick foam suitable for installations over wood subfloors where moisture is not a concern.

  • 2-in-1 Vapor Underlayment: Combines standard foam with a moisture barrier, ideal for installations over concrete subfloors to protect against moisture.

  • 3-in-1 Vapor Underlayment: A 2mm thick underlayment offering moisture protection, sound reduction, and minor subfloor leveling, suitable for various subfloors.

  • Silent Underlayment: Provides enhanced sound dampening along with moisture protection, ideal for multi-level buildings or areas where noise reduction is important.

  • Vapor Block Film: A moisture barrier film used under flooring with pre-attached underlayment or in conjunction with other underlayments to provide additional moisture protection

Moldings and Floor Trim

Achieving a polished look requires the right moldings and trim. These accessories not only cover gaps and edges, but also add a refined finish to your space. We offer both white and color matched moldings. Our selection includes:

  • T-Molding: Perfect for transitioning between floors of the same height.

  • Reducer Molding: Ideal for transitioning from laminate or vinyl to a lower-height floor.

  • End Cap: Used for transitioning to carpet, against doors or fireplaces.

  • Stair Nose: Stair Nose Moldings are used to finish off the step or stairwell where the floor stops. The rounded bullnose edge extends down to cover the edge of the step and is typically placed on the step before the flooring.

  • Wall Base: These moldings are meant to frame the perimeter of the room and cover the 1/4" gap left for expansion. To add a more decorative touch, many add a quarter round with the wall base.

It provides a smooth, even surface for the installation of laminate or vinyl flooring, helping to hide minor subfloor imperfections. Underlayment also adds a layer of cushioning, enhancing comfort underfoot and reducing noise. Additionally, it offers moisture protection, which is essential in areas prone to dampness, and can improve the overall longevity and performance of your flooring. Investing in quality underlayment ensures your floor looks great and performs well for years to come. Be sure to check your manufacturer instructions to learn about what underlayment is necessary for your flooring choice.

No, there are specific underlayments for each type of flooring. Typically, a laminate can have a thicker underlayment, whereasvinyl needs a thinner option due to the thickness of the planks. You can use the same vapor barrier for each floor.

Yes, underlayments can help smooth out minor subfloor imperfections. The subfloor is one of the most important parts of a floating floor installation and can impact the longevity of your laminate or vinyl floor. Significant unevenness should be addressed and fixed before installation.

Underlayment can be installed over some existing floors, like tile or wood. Existing floors must be in good condition and adhered to the floor. You cannot install a floating floor over another floating floor.
