Keeping your laminate flooring in great shape is a must if you want it to look as wonderful as it did the day you first bought it. In order to do so we’ve prepared 4 do’s and don’ts you must know when it comes to laminate flooring. Follow these guidelines and your laminate flooring will be the least of your worries!
Laminate flooring is very easy to maintain, however, just like anything else it requires some effort. Take a few minutes out of your day to clean and keep from dust and dirt build-up. Sometimes dirt can gather on top or in between your planks (especially if you have a beveled edge flooring) which can make your flooring appear old and dirty.
Waxing or refinishing your laminate can damage the flooring and can also void your warranty. A simple mop with a vinegar and water solution will get the job done and make your flooring shiny and clean.
Yes, laminate flooring is scratch resistant, however, it is not made of steel. Protect your floor from any major damage or mishaps by placing felt pads under your heavy furniture. This will keep your flooring looking great for a long period of time and keep your mind at ease when you have company or children in the room.
Although laminate is durable and resistant, water can still damage the planks. If you are installing your floors in a kitchen, bathroom or utility room, we recommend sealing the joints for added protection. A good rule of thumb is to clean up spills as soon as possible, to avoid having puddles of water sit on the laminate.
Laminate looks wonderful and gives your home a brand new look, however, this is not it’s only purpose. You want to feel cozy and at home in your own space. Dance, play, jump – you name it! Laminate is durable and is ready for a busy house filled with children, pets, company, and of course, great times!

Hi Nita, sorry to hear about this. Did you have water or pet damage? Once the wear layer begins to peel, there isn’t much you can do to fix it, other than replace the planks.
How can I clean dog urine stains off a laminate floor
Hi Beverly, sorry to hear you are dealing with some stains! Unfortunately, if the stain is under the protective coating and onto the decor, there is nothing you can do to remove it, other than replacing the planks. Once is seeps into the seams, there is no way of getting it off. Sorry I don’t have better news!
