Hello
We are about to lay laminate flooring in our bedroom. Concrete floor.
6mm thickness laminate ac5 rated
However we have tiles in the bathroom that are 13mm high.
How do I match the laminate to the tile height?
Thank you
Thank you, Craig for your question. To match the height of your 6mm laminate flooring to the 13mm tile in your bathroom, you have a few options:
1. Use Thicker Laminate Flooring:
Choose a laminate flooring that is thicker and combine it with vapor barrier underlayment to reach a total thickness of 13mm, for example 12mm flooring plus 1mm thick underlayment . This is a common thickness for higher-quality laminate floors, providing better durability and a more substantial feel underfoot.
2. Install a Reducer Molding:
A reducer molding can be used between the laminate and tile. Reducer strip come in various designs and can accommodate slight height differences between flooring types. They provide a smooth transition and can help bridge the gap in height. Dont forget to leave expanson gap for lamibate to expend.
3. Apply a Self-Leveling Compound:
If you prefer to match the heights without a transition strip, you can apply a self-leveling compound to the concrete floor in the bedroom before laying the laminate. This will raise the floor level to match the height of the bathroom tiles. Make sure you let it dry completelly and usee vapor barier underlayment to gard agains moisture.
4. Add a Plywood Subfloor:
Install a thin layer of plywood (around 6-7mm thick) over the concrete before laying the laminate. Seal the concrete before installation. This method increases the overall height and ensures the laminate flooring will be nearly level with the tiles. Choose the method that best suits your needs and the conditions of your subfloor. Always make sure your subfloor is flat and in a good repair.
In sumary, transition strips are generally the simplest, economical and most aesthetically pleasing solution for slight height differences.
I am trying to find one box of Renoir 8mm French Bleed laminate flooring. We ran out before finishing the room
Thank you for your question, Michele. We would suggest looking on eBay or Craigslist to find this product. We unfortunatelly do not sell this brand and style. Try our free samples if you want to try to match or replace your floor. Best of luck!
Do you know if anyone is producing a tigerwood laminate . Armstrong discontinued it and i have about 15 boards to replace…Thank you!
Thanks for your question, Blaine! We would suggest looking on eBay or Craigslist to find this product as it is discontinued.
My son’s Walker has left scuff marks all over our LVP flooring. How do we remove them? It’s a large area (the entire house)
Thanks for your question, Shannon. Scuff marks from a walker are very common, unfortunately, as LVP has some give to it depending on the core. If your lvp has a WPC core (wood plastic composite) it may be more prone to this as well. We would suggest searching for a flooring repair kit that can possibly camouflage these marks with the rest of the floor. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to our customer service team for additional help!
Can your product go over coretech vpflooring without any underlament? Can this product be applied over VP flooring.
Thanks for your question! COREtec flooring is a floating floor, so we would not recommend installing any other type of floating floor over it. We would suggest removing the current flooring to install a new floating floor.
