Is there anything better than a mini-escape for the man of the house?
If you’re a man, the benefits are obvious. You get an adult playroom with video games, dartboards, tools, adult beverages, and whatever else your heart desires. For the women, having the rest of the house to unwind in makes this designated space in your home equally enticing. It’s a win-win.
If you’re planning to spend the weekend on a project, why not try a DIY man cave? Here are a few ways you can build a man cave in your house this weekend with some easy DIY projects.
A Ladder Shelving System
Shelving is essential in any room. Why not spruce up your space by adding a ladder shelving system. The team at The Man Cave Blog suggests putting two ladders together and placing a few planks of plywood boards on each step. Attach the boards to the planks using a drill and some screws, and you’ve got a unique storage system.
You can’t have a comfortable room without a place to kick back and… well, nap. Place a convertible futon in your man cave, or some other comfy piece of furniture that is exclusively for your napping pleasure. You might need to take a nap after hours of gaming and who wants to walk to the bedroom, am I right?
Need to hang up your hat, keys, or jacket? You’ll need a few hooks. A man cave can’t have just any fancy hooks – they need to be manly. DIY Ready suggests taking a wrench and then bending it upward (using what they call “super human strength”). Then, screw the wrench into the wall and you’ll have a cool tool hook.
Coffee Table Cooler
When you’re relaxing in your new room, you’ll want a few beverages to keep you happy. Don’t make unnecessary trips to the refrigerator. Stock up on beverages in your man cave with a DIY cooler. Klink Delivery suggests getting a standard coffee table and a plastic or tin planter box. Then, cut out the space in the middle of the table and place your planter on top. Once secure, fill it with ice and your drink of choice.
An In-Home Movie Theater
Turn up the volume and watch your favorite movies with your own personal movie theater. Get a projector and point it at a bare, white wall. Then, stock up on giant pillows and plush furniture where you can stretch out and watch your favorite film. It’s easy and it provides the perfect way to escape the real world for a few hours.
