Searching for discontinued flooring to finish or repair a project can be a daunting task. Once a flooring design is discontinued, it may never be manufactured again. But don’t worry, we’ve got some options for you to explore!

Where should I search for discontinued flooring?

First, try contacting the store where you originally purchased the flooring, as well as the manufacturer. Even if it’s not listed on their website, there may be remaining stock in the warehouse. This option seems so obvious but it is always worth a shot!

If you can’t find it there, search online for the exact name and SKU number. Another retailer on the internet may have remaining stock. If you find a store that has several boxes left in stock, consider buying extras, so you are prepared for future needs.

You can also look for the discontinued design on resale websites like eBay, Craigslist, or Facebook Marketplace. Sometimes, individuals will sell unused boxes of flooring from a past project.

I still can’t find the discontinued flooring, what should I do?

If you have searched for the discontinued design without any luck, here are a few other options to consider:

1. Repair the flooring If you are searching for discontinued floor because your existing floor has been damaged, you may be able to repair it. Learn how to repair flooring scratches here.

2. Harvest flooring from a low traffic area If you need a few extra planks for a repair, try taking flooring from a low traffic area, such as a closet or pantry. You can put a similar or complimentary design in the low traffic area, and it will barely be noticeable! Learn more about how to replace planks here.

3. Find a similar design Looking for a matching floor can be overwhelming with so many options out there, but our team can help you find the best match. To create a cohesive look, there are some important factors to consider, such as:

  • Color: find a floor with a similar tone to your pre-existing floors for a cohesive design.
  • Thickness: a smooth transition is key, so look for a floor that is the same or very similar thickness as your current flooring.
  • Plank style: matching the same plank style is important for a consistent appearance.
  • Locking system: ensure that the locking system is compatible so that the planks can connect effortlessly.
  • Texture: to create an even transition, consider the texture of the floor.
  • Edge style: make sure to find a matching option for the edges, whether beveled or square.

4. Find a complimentary design We can assist you in finding a design that will suit your existing floors and complement them. For example, if you have dark oak flooring, you could consider a lighter oak design in a similar tone for an adjacent room to add a pop of contrast. Try using our room viewer tool below to compare new options to your existing flooring.

5. Consider replacing the flooring If it’s necessary, new flooring may be the best option. If you are going for a seamless look throughout your home, a similar or complimentary design will never look 100% the same. If that is the case, it might be time to replace everything to achieve the seamless finish you desire. We are here to help you to find the right product and pricing for your project.

Hi Adie – the bar code numbers are no showing up in our system. Do you happen to know the full name of the Quick-Step floor? This will help us to see if we have any in our warehouse.
