Finishing a Vinyl Installation

You’re almost done! Just a few more steps until you are ready to move back into your rooms and enjoy your new vinyl floors! After installing your moldings and trim, follow these guides to help finish your vinyl installation and begin to create the space you’ve been dreaming about!

Adhesive – Wait 24 Hours

If you glued your vinyl to the subfloor, restrict foot traffic or moving any furniture over the flooring for at least 24 hours. Remove any adhesive that may have gotten onto the surface of the flooring during installation with a damp cloth. Do not use any water on the surface for at least 4 days post installation. Follow the adhesive instructions per the manufacturer.

Sweep the Room

Whether you installed glue down or click vinyl, debris, tools and dust can be dragged into your work space. Find a broom and gently sweep the area, removing anything that could get stuck in expansion gaps or locking systems.

Furniture Padding

If you installed a vinyl floor, it is recommended to add felt padding or coasted to your furniture. Although vinyl is very durable, scratches can happen when heavy and sharp objects move across the floor. Once the top layer is damaged or scratched, it can be hard to fix! If scratches happen, be sure to follow these instructions.

Move Back into the Room!

For click or loose lay installations, you can begin to move furniture and decor into the room right after you finish your installation. If you glued your flooring down, wait at least 24 hours for the adhesive to cure. Don’t forget to take some photos of your completed room and send them into us at [email protected]!
