Vapor 3-in-1 Blue Underlayment Installation

Not only providing a cushion between the subfloor and laminate, the Vapor 3-in-1 Blue Underlayment also protects against moisture and noise. This is a very popular underlayment and can be installed easily.

Gather Your Supplies

To install your underlayment, you will need:

  • Vapor 3-in-1 Blue underlayment
  • Tape
  • Scissors or a Utility Knife

Begin Your Installation

Step 1: Prepare, Repair and Clean your Subfloor

Before you begin the installation, you will need to follow the guides for properly preparing your subfloor. It is important to have a leveled, structural strong and clean subfloor.

Step 2: Begin Rolling the First Row

Begin by placing the underlayment in a corner, tape side towards the wall and film edge to the open room.

Step 3: Cut the Section

Once you reach the end of the first row, cut the underlayment using a utility knife or scissors.

Step 4: Roll Out the Next Section

With the tape side towards the film edge, begin unrolling the second row.

Step 5: Line Up Seams

Line up the seam of the second right next to the seam of the first row. The second row should be overlapping the film edge, but it is important that the seams do not overlap. The subfloor surface needs to be an even surface.

Step 6: Cut the Second Row

Once you reach the end of the second row, cut the section using your scissors or utility knife.

Step 7: Adhere the Seams

Now it’s time to adhere the seams. Begin taking the backing off of the tape. Using gentle pressure, stick the tape to the film overlap and press on the underlayment. Once again, paying close attention to the seams.

Step 8: Install Your Flooring

Once the underlayment is sealed together, begin laying your first row of floating floor. Use the manufacturer’s directions to properly install the flooring.

Step 8: Continue Installation

When you are about a foot from the end of the second row of underlayment, follow these steps to continue installing two rows of underlayment and then continuing with the flooring.
