Versatrim End Cap Molding Installation Instructions
End cap, or sometimes referred to as a square nose, is a molding that is used transition from laminate to carpet, masonry (fireplaces), sliding doors and other exterior door jambs. This helps to minimize height differences between surfaces. If you plan to use one of these moldings, read this guide before installing your laminate flooring to be sure of what special gaps or cuts may be needed during your install. Installation for 6 – 9.5 mm Floors using Versatrim U-Track
6 – 9.5 mm Floors: Use Versatrack (Metal Track) for 6 – 9.5 mm floors
Step 1: Install the flooring planks including the underlayment by leaving a 1-1/8″ inch (28mm) gap for the installation of the End Cap molding.
Step 2: Gather tools needed. Click here to find out which tools you’ll need for your installation.
Step 3: Sweep and clean your new laminate to remove dust and any scraps that may be in the expansion gap or around the edge of the flooring.
Step 4: Center the U-Track between the carpet/other surface and the laminate floor and screw it to the sub-floor by using 4 x 1/2″ screws.
Step 5: Gently press the molding into the track starting from one end to the other just like you would close a Zip-Lock bag. 1 1/8”. Do not try to push the entire molding in all at once by just pressing it in from top!
Installation for 9.5 – 12.3 mm Floors using Versatrim U-Track and Shim
9.5 – 12.3 mm Floors: Use Versatrack & Versatrack Shim for 9.5 – 12.3 mm floors. Use the same molding & track, just add 1 Versatrack Shim.
Step 1: Install the flooring planks including the underlayment by leaving a 1-1/8″ inch (28mm) gap for the installation of the End Cap molding.

Step 4: Center the U-Track and shim between the carpet and the laminate floor and screw them to the sub-floor by using 4×1/2″ screws.
Step 5: Gently press the molding into the track starting from one end to the other just like you would close a Zip-Lock bag. 1 1/8” !!! Do not try to push the entire molding in all at once by just pressing it in from top !!!
